Hand built decorative and sculptural ceramic pieces finished by saggar or raku firing, or high fired porcelain with crystalline glazes
All of the pieces are hand built, so no two are identical. Barbara uses a variety of finishing techniques, each with an element of unpredictability. The marks of smoke and fire enhance the organic, saggar fired forms, fixing the design in the unglazed surface. Crystals grow within the glazes of the land and seascape forms, mingling in fluid swathes of colour.
